Submissions
Yes, we are accepting submissions for 2009 releases.
Please carefully read the below submissions guidelines on submitting manuscripts. Adherence to these guidelines will ensure your manuscript being reviewed by our acquisitions team.
Please NO phone queries or inquiries. Email queries are welcomed at XYPSubmissions@aol.com
UNEDITED SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE REVIEWED OR CONSIDERED FOR PUBLICATION. AS AN AUTHOR, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SUBMIT A CLEAN AND THOROUGHLY EDITED MANUSCRIPT TO A PUBLISHER. WHAT YOU SUBMIT REPRESENTS YOU.
Along with your submission, please include your plans for marketing and promoting your book.
Xpress Yourself Publishing is soliciting manuscripts in all genres of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, self-help and children's fiction. NOTE: Currently, and until further notice, we are not accepting poetry submissions.
Should your manuscript be accepted, please note that Xpress Yourself Publishing does not guarantee that your title will sit on the bookshelves of every bookstore in the United States. However, your title will be listed in Books In Print, and will be available through Ingram Book Group and Baker & Taylor distributors. All titles are available in the Unites States, as well as in the United Kingdom. Although Xpress Yourself Publishing has an in-house publicist and will adequately market and promote all titles, as the author, it is your responsibility to promote, schedule book signings and spread the word about your book, in conjunction with the efforts of your publisher and its publicist.
General Interest
Fiction and Nonfiction Books:
We are accepting unsolicited manuscript submissions. Unlike most publishing
companies, we do not require you to be affiliated with a literary agent.
However, in order for your submission to be considered, you must follow the
submissions guidelines set forth below.
Our editors are seeking tasteful provocative, intelligent fiction manuscripts in the areas of sexuality and erotica, romance, urban and street, and general interest, as well as nonfiction, and lively stories of all genres of fiction for the general population between the ages of 18 and older. They are also looking for short novels of 40 to 80 manuscript pages. Xpress Yourself Publishing is highly selective in the areas of historical fiction, fantasy, and science fiction. A novel must be well written, and professionally edited, in order to find a place on the list. The editors prefer to see completed manuscripts. Query letters are accepted.
Please
do not fax submissions. We will accept email submissions at
XYPSubmissions@aol.com. However, we will
not accept submissions on CD-ROMs. We also cannot review manuscripts or queries
that have been posted on the Internet or respond by e-mail.
Manuscripts
We prefer a typed
(letter-quality), double-spaced manuscript on unfolded plain white paper in a
9x12 envelope. We do not accept manuscripts that are handwritten or submitted on
computer disk. Please ensure that all manuscript pages are numbered.
You do not have to furnish illustrations, but if you wish, copies of a few
comprehensive sketches or duplicate copies of original art will suffice. For
fiction we prefer to see the entire manuscript, and for nonfiction a synopsis
and sample chapters.
Please keep a copy of the manuscript for your files. Because of the volume of
manuscripts we receive each day, submissions are virtually impossible to track,
and it may take up to twelve weeks before we reach a decision.
Please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope of adequate size for returning
material, or indicate that the manuscript need not be returned. Please make sure
the postage adheres to the SASE to prevent its loss during handling. Never send
your ONLY copy of a manuscript. Manuscripts that arrive without an SASE of
adequate size, or lacking sufficient postage, will not be returned.
